Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's tale combines football scholarship for his family as well as service to his community. His first family is that Selmon is the eldest of nine kids raised in Eufala with Lucious Selmon. Second football he was the third brother who were players for Oklahoma. All three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy was named the top offensive lineman in United States by Outland and Lombardi Awards. For three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy as the starter. The team also took home 2 national titles. The third scholarship was awarded to him. He was a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon graduated with a degree from the University of California at Berkeley. Lee Roy was involved in volunteering for ten hours per week during his time at college. After graduation, he landed in Tampa played nine years with the Buccaneers were all-pro three times and started a business career. In 1988, he was working as an Account Relation Manager for First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was not a surprise when, in 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of the 10 young stars across the nation. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and stood at a height of 6'2 inches. When he was playing college, he was the captain of the 1975 team. He was hired by the University of South Florida in 1993 as an Associate Director of Sports. In 1988, Selmon was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He also made his way into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave the Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon, Jr. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma presented the award.
